We're living in very uncertain times right now, and although Sony has repeatedly said that the PlayStation 5 is still launching in holiday 2020, there's always a chance that plans will have to be reworked. Unsurprisingly, publishers are well aware of this. Speaking to The New York Times, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot gives us some insight into how the company is prepared for such an outcome.
Guillemot says that its schedule hasn't been significantly impacted by the ongoing coronavirus situation, despite the fact that Ubisoft's development teams are now working remotely. Both Sony and Microsoft have allowed developers to continue using next-gen devkits, which is obviously a huge help.
But if the worst does happen, and the PS5 and Xbox Series X are delayed, Ubisoft is prepared. Guillemot comments: "We are not seeing significant impact to our own timelines, but we are in touch with all our partners and if there’s a need to adjust in order to do what’s best for them and for our players, we will do so." This suggests that the publisher is ready to delay its upcoming games if necessary. After all, everything has to be working in sync for a successful console launch.
Do you think the PS5 will make it out by the end of 2020? Envision a next-gen future in the comments section below.

In general, I really hope the launch isn't rushed. Both in terms of hardware, and software (first and third parties).
@Octane Yeah I think that's a much bigger concern than any potential delays.
Like they have a choice 😂 ok...I guess they could release on PC...
Well, they already delayed their entire lineup after the new Ghost Recon bombed.
I truly believe that every game they were working on had the mechanics of Ghost Recon and after seeing people are finally getting tired of that BS decided they needed to restructure some of the mechanics. I was tired of it long before the majority.
i could see sony delaying the ps5 if the shortages are to big.
other than that i still see it releasing this year.
this could be interesting aswell since some companies with upcoming or even unannounced cross gen games could end up delaying only the next gen versions.
Am I missing something here? They won’t have any choice but to delay the games if the consoles are delayed...
And here was me thinking they’d get PS5 games on shelves despite the console not having released yet.
i honestly think they should push back the launch of both systems until maybe early next year, so it gives this world a chance to calm down a bit...... honestly, we all have so many stellar games to play already. a rushed launch wouldn't be good for anybody, as excited as i know we all are about the forthcoming Beasts.
Ubisoft are always there at the launch of a consoles. Games will be scarce and early adaptors will nearly buy anything - enter Ubisoft!
Ubisoft delayed all of it's games back in October to "TBD" so how can anything change when everything is already undated?

@Octane its obvious both of these consoles are being rushed
The next gen consoles Definitely coming out this year because In the winter covid 19 could get worse. so I don’t see why Sony or Microsoft would delay their next gen consoles early next year if things could get worse by that time.
I don't know about where you guys are but where I am. It seems everyone decided frig paying rent there is literally no consoles left in my city. I have 2 Wal-Marts and a Target open plus a Best Buy......oddly enough our GameStop isn't allowed to be open.... anyway my daughter wanted Animal Crossing and I thought I'd get her a lite with some of her income tax we do ours late. None around I asked a guy a Wally he was like everyone is spending there stimulus on them. I said guess they don't need to eat or live under a roof he blew his mask of his face.
Oh my point was as with the end of any generation. When it's time to move on I'm ready. At least since I've been able to buy my own stuff that is. As a child it was always the next Christmas unless my dad had a great year. We was po always the game that came with the console until your birthday. Man those were the days....my kids are spoiled
Does this mean that games like Gods and Monsters won't be released on the PS4 until the PS5 releases? Where's the sense in that?
Well yeah, I imagine they kinda have too, otherwise release a new game for a console thats not at market yet!
@Dodoo Actually until you pointed 'the obvious out' I had missed said 'obvious' !
@yorkrose26 hehe yeah well I was scratching my head wondering what I was missing! 😂
